Andreas Weinert
Chairman of the Board, Chief Technology Officer
After studying physics at the Technical University of Dresden, Mr. Weinert began his career at Siemens in 1991, where he last operated as production and sales manager for plastic optical fibers.
After working as an application engineer at Corning Optical Fibers for two years, he founded FO Systems GmbH in early 2000, which was acquired by LEONI AG in two stages in the following years. Today, the company operates as LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH.
After 19 years as the head of the company, Andreas decided to retire from the operational management position and focused on the strategic development of the technology portfolio as Director of Technology in the Leoni Fiber Optics BU as of 2020.
Due to the strategic realignment of LEONI AG, Andreas Weinert had the opportunity to transfer the company he had founded, including the subsidiaries that have joined in, back into a long-term and sustainably oriented family business in the form of an MBO.
