Supply Chain Manager

WEINERT Fiber Optics, Inc. (Williamsburg, VA): Formerly LEONI Fiber Optics, Inc., we are one of the nation’s best designers and producers of high-quality fiber optic products. We serve well-respected manufacturers and other industrial and military players across various applications such as metrology, high-power and medical lasers, as well as industrial data transmission. While addressing the American market, within the global business group, our Williamsburg, VA site is an integral part of a worldwide engineering, manufacturing, and sales team with co-workers in Europe and Asia allowing for innovative and customer-specific solutions.

We are looking for a motivated full-time supply chain manager to join our team at the Williamsburg, VA site with responsibility for all planning, purchasing, warehouse, and logistics activities:

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team comprising two departments within the COO organization
  • Create and implement an adequate reporting with the goal of developing and optimizing supply chains suitable to achieve the company’s short- and long-term sales and profit goals
  • Negotiate agreements with critical suppliers and perform regular audits
  • Analyze inventories and seek relative decrease of purchasing costs while reducing DIO
  • Support NPI projects in terms of vendor development and material readiness
  • Perform project management and other duties as assigned by superior


Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field
  • >5 years of relevant working and managerial experience in a manufacturing company
  • Ability to understand fabrication drawings, datasheets and other technical information
  • Self-Motivated and Self-Directed with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Communication skills, cooperativeness, and ability to work in a team
  • Strong working knowledge of software tools such as MS Excel, SAP or other ERP-systems
  • Effective time management skills with ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to legally work in the United States

Product Engineer Fiber Optic Assemblies

 

We are looking for a full-time engineer to join our team at the Williamsburg, VA site. We are hiring motivated engineers across different levels of experience, from entry level (Assistant Engineer) to senior level (Associate Engineer or Senior Engineer). The ideal candidate brings an affiliation to fiber optics, optical lasers, or optical metrology instruments as well as medical device engineering either through college, doctoral or post-doctoral research, or prior work experience:

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop new fiber optic prototypes and products according to (customer) requirements
  • Create technical documentation such as datasheets, BOMs, and drawings for new product release by customers or regulatory authorities
  • Support quote requests by customers
  • Interact directly with customers through phone calls, visits, or trade shows
  • Control of materials, article numbers, and documents according to internal and customer standards
  • Realization and documentation of change management
  • Support supplier selection for new and existing materials
  • Contribute to product catalogues and other external product information
  • Implement Design to Cost (DTC) initiatives within the field of responsibility
  • Implementation of technical development incl. patents / literature research
  • Perform project management and other duties as assigned by superior

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or Physics
  • Ideally, working experience in the manufacturing or application of fiber optic assemblies
  • Self-Motivated and Self-Directed with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Communication skills, cooperativeness, and ability to work in a team
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of software tools (MS Office, Solidworks, NX/Teamcenter)
  • Effective time management skills with ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced
  • Ability to legally work in the United States
